UPDATE: A female guard was hit in the head with an iron bar and six guards were injured after juvenile detainees at Casuarina Prison broke out of their cells and caused chaos before climbing onto the roof, sparking a 10-hour standoff.
The riot kicked off about 4pm on Saturday after two juveniles being held in the infamous Unit 18 assaulted a female youth custodial officer and stole her keys while outside for recreation.
