Police are probing an abduction scare in Perth’s southern suburbs amid claims a girl narrowly escaped being pulled into a car.
Witnesses say chilling screams rang out over the neighbourhood before a vehicle sped away.
A teen told detectives another girl was almost taken by a car full of men in Spearwood.
Witness Kelly Douglas said she heard what happened.
“I heard somebody scream for help and then I heard a car pull away really fast,” she said.
“I came out to the street to see what was going on the car was gone by the time I got here.”
A teen witness told officers she saw the would-be victim walking her dog near Edwards Park about 5.30pm when she was grabbed by a man who tried to pull her into a black hatchback.
Residents said the girl escaped as families at the park rushed to help.
“I could see that the girl had gone to some people that were already on the oval, she seemed pretty distressed,” Douglas said.
“It’s worrying to think it happened in broad daylight, there was lots of people around.”
Detectives have been scouring Etherington Avenue and Lintott Way and door-knocking residents.
Police are reviewing security vision including of a black hatchback in the area at the time, and asking for more CCTV and dash cam footage.
