A 27-year-old man has been arrested after an eight-hour stand-off with police in Logan, south of Brisbane.
Police declared an emergency situation in Logan Reserve about 6am after they were called to a home shortly after midnight.
Officers believed the man was armed, after seeing what they thought was a pistol in his hand.
He surrendered to police shortly before 9am and was transported to hospital.
Acting Inspector Jason Barrowcliffe said the priority was now for the man to undergo an assessment, adding “it’s our job to provide him the care that he needs”.
“We always try and negotiate a peaceful resolution,” Acting Inspector Barrowcliffe said.
“The male person was in an agitated state so he was negotiating at some points, at other times he wasn’t.
“He was secured in the front yard.”
The man was uninjured and no other persons were at the property.
