The body of Long Do was found on rocks after he went missing off a beach in Gellibrand Lower about 3pm yesterday.
Police continue to search for Vinh Nguyen, despite poor weather conditions.
The group of friends from Melbourne’s west were camping at Gellibrand Lower when they decided to go finishing for abalone.
They soon found themselves struggling against the seven-metre swell.
Three managed to make it to safety, but Do and Nguyen never made it out.
Nguyen’s girlfriend Ha Chu told 9News she wasn’t giving up hope.
“It’s really important to find him, yeah,” she said.
The pair had only moved to Melbourne from Vietnam four years ago.
Authorities searched for Nguyen throughout the afternoon, pausing the search after dark.
The search will continue tomorrow morning.
