A search effort is underway to help locate two people off the coast of North Queensland.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said an EPIRB on a boat that had departed from Mackay Harbour was activated at about 8.10pm yesterday.
Volunteer Marine Rescue and a helicopter began a search around Creal Reef, about 150 kilometres from the coastline.
The spokeswoman said a capsized boat was found about 12.30am today, but there was no sign of the occupants.
Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre has been overseeing search efforts this morning.
One aircraft is already in the air, with other vessels expected depart for the reef this morning.
