A party that occurred in a park where the body of an 18-year-old was found has become the focus of a police investigation.
Police say a party may be linked to the suspicious death of an 18-year-old man in Townsville
His body was found in an Alice River park with “significant injuries” by a member of the public about 7:30am on Saturday morning
Anyone with dash-cam footage from the Rupertswood Park area on Friday night and Saturday morning is asked to contact police
Kane Moore was found dead at a park in Townsville about 7:30am on Saturday.
Queensland Police believe he died on Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Lawson said police had discovered a party had taken place at the same park on Progress Road on Friday night.
“The party occurred in the vicinity of where the deceased was located. There were varying numbers at the party at varying points throughout the night,” he said.
“We are identifying those people involved and interviewing them to establish what occurred that led to the death of this young person.”
Queensland Police confirmed they were still treating the death as suspicious.
“There were a number of injuries on the deceased that caused us to believe that it was not just a sudden death that occurred as a result of a natural incident,” he said.
Act. Chief Supt. Chris Lawson would not say whether police believe the teenager had been assaulted.
A post-mortem examination of the teenager’s body is being carried out this week.
Anyone with relevant dash-cam footage is being told to contact Queensland Police.
“We are making a call-out to any members of the public who may have been driving along the Hervey Range Road and [the] Rupertswood Park area on Friday night [or] Saturday morning,” he said.
“If they have any dash-cam of any vehicles that were in the vicinity — let us know.”
