The 15-month-old boy was struck about 4.45pm yesterday by a car being driven by a woman, police said.
The incident happened at a property on Berryman Road in Home Hill, an hour south of Townsville.
The boy was rushed to Ayr Hospital but later died.
Police are investigating the infant’s sudden death and the boy’s mother is assisting police with their investigations.
