The 34-year-old was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with head injuries and a large laceration to her leg after allegedly being tortured and assaulted by two men, who were known to the victim.
About 30 minutes later a convoy of officers turn up, arresting the two men.
Neighbours told 9News it wasn’t an easy arrest, with lots of shouting and officers forced to break the door down.
The men – one aged 36 from Mareeba, the other a 40-year-old from Surfers Paradise – were both charged with one count each of torture and a string of other offences, including: wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.
The men were scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
The woman is in a stable condition.
