- Emergency services responded to reports of a fire and “domestic incident”
- A 29-year-old woman is being treated in the Royal Adelaide Hospital
- A 36-year-old man who was found on a roof has been charged with assault
Police said the 36-year-old man was found on the roof of a neighbouring property after his home was engulfed by flames on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 2pm and the man has been charged with assault.
A 29-year-old woman from the address was taken by ambulance to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and is being “treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries”, police said.
It took about half an hour for 32 Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) firefighters to bring the flames – which had spread through the roof – under control.
The MFS said fire cause investigators have examined the scene and are working to determine what sparked the blaze, and a pet dog was rescued from the back yard.
SA Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The fire at the Green Avenue property has left an estimated damage bill of $400,000.
The fire sent up large amounts of smoke and an advice message was earlier issued advising residents to close their doors and windows.
